Lake County at a Glance
Often overshadowed by California's
Pacific coastline, Lake County's freshwater lakes offer an abundance of vacation
and recreational pursuits. Clear
Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in California, serves as the main
attraction in local communities, including Lakeport,
Clearlake and
Kelseyville,
providing them with bass fishing, boating and swimming. Throughout the year, Outrageous
Waters boasts an entertaining facility for all ages, containing giant water
slides, batting cages and go-kart tracks. In addition to water activities, Lake
County boasts several natural parks. One such area is the Anderson
Marsh State Historic Park, which contains historic artifacts dating back 10,000
years, as well as nature walks and birdwatching areas. Visitors can learn about
the stars at the Taylor
Planetarium and Observatory or visit one of the county's many scenic wineries.
Outdoor activities aside, Lake County is fully equipped to entertain people of
all ages and tastes with an array of antique shops, art galleries, restaurants,
museums and casinos.
